First things first – GyPSii is announcing a new app. It’s called Tweetsii and it’s a totally killer Twitter app that bridges the Twitter experience with location, mobility and contextual search: all in the palm of your hand, accessible anytime and anywhere. Right now it’s only available on iPhone, so if you have an iPhone and want to see how Twitter works in the real world – download it today.

Secondly – We gave advance access of the app to some ecosystem influencers to get their feedback on Tweetsii. So far, so good. This morning social media pundit and Twitter star, Jeff Pulver, published a blog post about Tweetsii heralding it as, “the next big step in the real time web experience.” We’re thrilled that Jeff is so enthusiastic; check out the full post here.

We’ll let you all know loads more about the app tomorrow, the day of the “official” launch.

If you’re going to be at SXSW make sure to drop by and say hello. We’ll be demoing in hall EH$ #1131 and roaming the events of Austin all week!

Mobile World Congress 2010 was a smashing success on all fronts.

Shane and I had a plethora of meetings with analysts and press. The business development team charged through relentless days of meetings and handshaking. And, our booth was full curious people asking questions about GyPSii for 3 –and-half days straight.

The show was also an excellent venue you for us to showcase our recent successes and news. We were psyched to announce a lot of news about uses of our API by top players and the extension of our business into new markets.

Shane and me giving an on camera interview

Genasys, the exclusive LBS infrastructure provider to Telefonica in Latin America recently signed a deal with us to use our OpenExperience API to build a killer mobile social media platform. This is the first major move for GyPSii into Latin America and we’re all looking forward to growing our business there.

As we go forth into Latin America we do so with the confidence of knowing our business strategy works in emerging markets. In the last quarter of 2009 GyPSii picked up a million new users – driven in large part by our deals with carriers in China. We’re also delivering advertising throughout the application in China with major inventory suppliers including: Admob, Kubang, CHANet and Baidu.

Leading up to the show we announced a partnership with Intrinsyc, maker of the popular Destinator application, who plan to use our OpenExperience API to integrate GyPSii’s social media and contextual advertising technologies into their app.

We also announced a deal with Telmap, who are using OpenExperience to inject social networking functionality into the next generation of their apps and giving users a common access point to their social networks.

It was an exciting and successful couple of days in Barcelona. Thanks to everyone on the team for your work in pulling it all together and keeping it together.

If you didn’t get a chance to see us in Barcelona but would like to catch up, by all means drop us a line.

Adios!

As a leader in mobile social technology we’re constantly looking at how people are using their devices and social networks to stay in touch, communicate, and engage with the world around them. Today we’re encouraged and touched by how these technologies are being leveraged to help the people of Haiti in their time of need.

Blogs and social media are now the best way to get information from the country and numerous text-to-donate campaigns are offering a simple and fast way for people to help. We’re seeing first-hand how mobile and social technologies are emerging in their importance and in their ability to do good.

Was 2009 really the year of the app? I know iTunes ended the year with well over 100,000 apps listed and Android burst onto the scene like a nuclear flash. But that might just be the tip of the iceberg… Apps on iTunes are expected to triple and Android to quintuple in this year. And, with strong smartphone sales this holiday season we’re expecting 2010 to start with something of an appstravaganza if you’ll indulge my cheesy humor.

Of course we think the first application people should download in 2010 is GyPSii, and seeing as this is the GyPSii blog that should come as no surprise. But don’t take our word for it! Ask the guys at Pocket-lint who listed GyPSii in their article “First five…Android Apps to download,” describing it as “Very Powerful. Very Useful.”

If you got a new Android phone this holiday season – check out this walk-through:

Happy New Year Everyone! See you next decade.
