At the Congress, GyPSii complemented its exhibition presence by participating in two of the Congress Panel Sessions – GyPSii Executive Chairman Dan Harple taking part in the “Trusted Partners for the 2.0 Era” panel discussion, and Shane representing GyPSii on the panel for “App Store Futures: Prospects, Partnerships and Payoff”. “Our panel presence helped us with firming out thought leadership stances around mobile advertising and location-based applications, and took the GyPSii brand inside the Congress programme, reaching delegates that may not have had time to visit the App Planet,” said Shane.

Yesterday that’s exactly what happened.  A top industry group for mobility and the Internet  awarded GyPSii as the 2010 Most Innovative Location Based Service at the 7th annual 2010 Wireless Communication Conference in Beijing.   The organizers of the conference include the major mobile carriers in China (China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom) and a host of other Internet companies such as Sina, Baidu, QQ/Tencent, Kaixin.

The panel of independent judges and representatives from the country’s largest mobile operators and Internet companies vetted the nominees in the category on the basis of user experience and also on the application’s ability to scale and create revenues.  So this award is a confirmation of our business strategy as much as an endorsement of our products.

We’d like to thank the judges and organizers of the conference for this accolade.  We’re so glad to have them in our corner as we drive towards our mission of connecting people and places and experiences using the power of the real time Internet.

It’s going to be a beautiful couple days in New York City.  The sun is shining, the rose blossoms are out, and #140conf is in session.  Perfect.

If you’re not familiar with #140conf, it’s a conference that brings together leaders from across the web to discuss issues related to social media, where we are and where we’re going.  But it’s far from your standard conference, it has a tempo and collection of ‘characters’ suitable for the subject — keynotes are only 15 minutes and panel discussions are 20.  Presenters include personalities disparate as Ivanka Trump, Joe Trippi, Michael Ian Black, educators, non-profits, and GyPSii Executive Chairman and Co-Founder Dan Harple.

Winners will be announced at the 2010 Wireless Communications Applications Conference in Beijing April 19 – 21.  We’re honored by the recognition and will have our finger crossed till then.
