Secondly – We gave advance access of the app to some ecosystem influencers to get their feedback on Tweetsii.  So far, so good.  This morning social media pundit and Twitter star, Jeff Pulver, published a blog post about Tweetsii heralding it as,  “the next big step in the real time web experience.” We’re thrilled that Jeff is so enthusiastic; check out the full post here.

We’ll let you all know loads more about the app tomorrow, the day of the “official” launch.

Well, today Chinese users can officially join the love fest.  Today China Unicom made the phone commercially available along with 3G service and it’s very own app store, the wo-store.   The iPhone will come with a Unispace powered by GyPSii application on-deck when the phone is sold, meaning the GyPSii will be right there for the millions in China expected to buy the iPhone in the coming months.

This is big news for the Chinese mobile marketplace and for GyPSii.

China is the largest mobile market in the world and we think the iPhone is going to be huge.  Unicom bought 5 million handsets from Apple (that’s the population of Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island).  While that number seems staggering, just think: there are about 687 million mobile subscribers in China (that’s the U.S. population times two, plus France and Serbia for good measure – wow).

While there are a huge amount of subscribers, perhaps more important is how central mobile devices are in the lives of so many Chinese.  About half of China’s Internet users access the web only by mobile device.  Imagine how important your handset would be if that was your only channel to the web? – For most of us in Europe and the U.S. it’s a supplement, not the sole conduit, and that is changing too!

China is a huge market for GyPSii and one that’s growing quickly.  We’ve noticed that the Chinese are very open, leaving most of their content open to the public.   Our Chinese users are also prolific commentors, sometimes leaving more than 200 comments on many Places posted.  All this openness stands to reason – after being a closed society for so many years the opening of China in recent history is giving Chinese people an opportunity they’ve never had to share they’re experiences locally and globally at the same time.

Being on-deck on one of the world’s coolest devices in the world’s largest mobile market is cool to say the least.
